benny and joon

Made in the 90's, it's a quirky, offbeat movie about a mentally challenged artist/pyro woman falling in love with a dyslexic Buster-Keaton-wannabe oddball that is the wonderful (and young) Johnny Depp. What more could you ask for in a movie? Some delightingly delicious footage of Johnny- toasting grilled sandwiches with an iron, mashing potatoes with a tennis racket, making music from a balloon...there's just so many things that I love about this movie!

Something else I noticed this time around is the clothes that Sam (Johnny) and Joon (Mary Stuart Masterson) are wearing. Everyone else in the movie is in your typical 90's gear (yucky high waisted mommy jeans and the like) while nowadays a guy could totally walk down the street in something Sam wore (minus the cane and the big bow maybe) and be seen just your regular teenage hipster. And I kept noticing Joon's super short bangs; they look really good on her but I don't think that's a look many faces can handle.
